1. Compliance Status
The Hargassner website is currently partially compliant with the requirements of WCAG 2.1, Level AA, and is undergoing technical and visual redevelopment (soft relaunch). Particular importance is placed on implementing an accessible website – in accordance with the Austrian Federal Act on Accessibility (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz – BaFG), as amended, for the transposition of the European Accessibility Directive (Directive (EU) 2019/882) on the accessibility requirements for products and services, and in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA.
Planned measures include:
- Structural adjustments in the source code to improve screen reader compatibility
- Contrast optimisation, increased line spacing, and adjustable text sizes in the design
- Improved form usability including clear labelling, focus guidance, and error messaging
- Inclusion of alternative text for images, subtitles for videos, and control over animations
Accessibility is continuously developed and evaluated as part of the relaunch.
2. Non-accessible Content
a) Content not yet fully accessible:
- Some downloadable PDF documents are currently not accessible. We are happy to provide an accessible version upon request.
- Most of our videos are hosted and published on the video platform YouTube. It is not currently possible to provide the required audio descriptions or text alternatives (WCAG success criteria 1.2.3 – Audio Description – and 1.2.5 – Media Alternative), meaning spoken content may not be accessible for deaf users.
b) Disproportionate burden:
Retrofitting large archives of historic video content to meet accessibility requirements would entail a disproportionate human and financial effort (§ 15 BaFG).
c) Exemptions from scope:
- Content published before 28 June 2025 is not subject to the requirements of the BaFG,
- content provided by third parties over which we have no editorial control
- the training booking tool developed and used exclusively for B2B purposes is also exempt.
3. Preparation of this Statement
This statement was prepared in June 2025 based on manual and automated testing conducted by the digital agency WESEO in accordance with WCAG 2.1.
The current website is undergoing redevelopment and is not yet fully accessible. Accessibility is being systematically improved as part of the soft relaunch.
