A special honour for the Innviertel-based family business Hargassner Heiztechnik: Markus and Anton Hargassner were named award recipients in the ‘Innovation & High-Tech’ category at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2026 awards. The awards ceremony took place during a festive gala at the Hofburg in Vienna.

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ is one of the world’s most established awards for entrepreneurship. For more than 30 years, EY has been recognising entrepreneurs in around 60 countries for their outstanding achievements. In Austria, the award has been presented since 2006. The focus is on business development, future potential, innovation, leadership and social responsibility. The winners are selected by an independent panel of experts.
For Hargassner, the award recognises a company’s development that began more than 40 years ago in the Innviertel region. Anton and Elisabeth Hargassner founded the company in 1984. Today, Hargassner is one of the leading full-service providers of heating solutions using renewable energy sources and operates internationally. What began with a focus on wood chip heating systems for the agricultural sector has evolved into a broad portfolio of modern pellet, wood log and wood chip heating systems, heat pumps and intelligent control technology for controlling and integrating multiple energy sources.
Second-generation innovation
Markus and Anton Hargassner have been jointly running the family business since 2021 as the second generation. The brothers focus on ongoing investment in research and development, modern production facilities and the consistent further development of technologies. They view innovation not as a short-term trend, but as the foundation for the company’s long-term competitiveness and for solutions that support the transition towards renewable energy.
The company’s management is also focused on long-term development. Personal dialogue, short decision-making processes and personal responsibility are intended to create scope for new ideas and independent action. At the same time, Hargassner remains closely connected to its home base in Weng im Innkreis and the wider region.
