Hargassner doubles the production area

Due to the strong demand on the biomass heating market and the expansion of the product range, Hargassner has decided to expand the regional site in Weng, with a construction volume of approx. 25 million euros and a size of 18,000 m². The additional space will increase the annual production capacity from 10,000 to 25,000 boilers.

Biomass heating technology

How it started.

In 1984, it all started with a promise that senior boss Anton Hargassner made to his wife Elisabeth: “I’ll build you a heating system that you’ll never have to refill!”

37 years and one family generation later, this promise has turned into a globally active company with strong regional roots, a total floor area of over 36,000 m² and approximately 500 employees (and rising). In 2020, the strongest sales year to date, almost 12,000 boilers left the plant in Weng.

The new building

Biomass, or rather heating with wood, continues to be on the rise. As an alternative to oil and gas, pellet, wood chip, and log wood heating systems from Hargassner have established themselves on the world market in recent years. In order to meet the increasing demand, Hargassner is investing approx. 20 million euros at the company site in Weng. The expansion by an additional 18,000 m² will bring the total company size to around 55,000 m².

The extension will provide space for new heating assembly and picking lines, an automated high-bay warehouse with up to 6,000 additional pallet spaces, incoming goods and shipping logistics. For the expansion, Hargassner is relying on long-standing, regional construction partners. For example, the architecture firm Tech3, Swietelsky as master builder or DHF for the steel construction are on board.

Pellet, wood chip, and log wood heating systems

“We are glad that after the long period dominated by negative headlines, we can serve with positive news! The trend towards biomass, towards sustainable heating, is unbroken. Many people are currently converting their old heating system to a new biomass heating system from our company. As a pioneer in environmentally conscious heating, we are proud to be at the forefront of the renewable energy sector. This is due to years of experience and constant efforts in the further development of our products,” says Managing Director Anton Hargassner.

In the centrally located, 5-story office and social wing, up to 50 employees will move into their new workplace. With the construction of the training and practice rooms in the Energy World, which will open in 2019, Hargassner has already shown how important the training and further education of its employees and partner companies is. The new extension will therefore house additional training rooms, as well as a spacious break center with a garden in front.

Due to the steadily increasing number of employees, parking spaces around the building are becoming scarce. In an underground parking garage under the new building, Hargassner creates space for 250 cars.

Numerous benefits for employees

Due to its great popularity, the fitness studio, which opened in 2009, will also move to the new office and employee wing and be enlarged. This means that, in addition to the strength-building and cardio equipment, employees will also be able to make greater use of courses such as full-body training, back fitness or yoga.

Hargassner is very concerned about the well-being of its employees. In addition to the free gym, the company restaurant ‘Kesselstube‘ offers regional delicacies at the highest level. Here, too, the highest attention is paid to the regionality of the processed products as well as their freshness.

Career at Hargassner!

“Satisfied employees are an important cornerstone of our corporate philosophy. That is why we always strive to guarantee this satisfaction. Be it through benefits such as our fitness studio, our company restaurant Kesselstube, our own bonus system for employees and apprentices, an attractive flexitime model and much more,” says Managing Director Markus Hargassner.
