A statement in favour of sustainability
The new wooden parking deck for employees at Hargassner headquarters in Austria was opened in autumn 2024 – an example of how aesthetics, functionality and sustainability can go hand in hand.
In the video, you can find out more about the creation of one of the world’s largest wooden parking decks, which was realised with expertise from regional companies in Upper Austria.
The unique wooden parking deck, which was built on the company premises in Weng / Upper Austria as part of a total investment of € 45 million, represents another milestone in international timber construction. The five-storey timber building designed by Matulik Architekten in Ried / Upper Austria offers 500 parking spaces on ten parking levels, each with an area of 1,150 m². WIEHAG Timber Construction from Altheim / Upper Austria was the ideal choice for the realisation of this visionary timber construction project. Thanks to its pioneering references, such as the Volvo World in Gothenburg, Sweden, or the largest timber construction in Asia, the Altheim-based company WIEHAG is one of the world’s top addresses for pioneering timber constructions.
A total of approx. 1,200 m³ of glulam and 1,200 m³ of cross-laminated timber was used for this groundbreaking timber structure. The load-bearing cross-laminated timber ceilings are placed on the glulam girders and console beams, while 3,400 m² of larch wood has been used for the impressive louvred façade.
The new wooden parking deck at Hargassner headquarters in Austria, which opened in September 2024, is unique on a global scale and once again underlines the sustainable and innovative character of heating manufacturer Hargassner.
