The task
The requirements:
- Replacement of the existing wood log/coke heating system
- Flexible use of wood logs and pellets
- Greater convenience in day-to-day heating
- Automatic heat supply even without reloading
Our solution
The Winter family’s existing heating system has been brought up to the latest technical standards with the Hargassner Smart-DUO.
- 1 x combi heating system Smart-DUO 17 kW with top-mounted return flow booster
- 1 x 1,600 l hot water and accumulator tank
- 1 x boiler
- 2 x mixed heat circuits
- 1 × AUP 3-way auto changeover unit
- 1 x timber-framed pellet storage room
The Winter family’s existing wood log and coke heating system in Lower Austria was replaced with a modern Hargassner Smart-DUO 17. The new combi heating system combines wood logs and pellets in a single unit and provides a flexible and comfortable heating solution.
The system was complemented by a 1,600-litre buffer tank, a domestic hot water cylinder and two mixed heating circuits. Automatic fuel supply is provided by a pellet storage room with a timber frame construction in combination with a triple auto changeover unit. The buffer tank stores the generated heat and makes it available to the building as required.
The Smart-DUO offers high flexibility in everyday heating: when operating with wood logs, the boiler uses the fuel provided for heat generation. Once the wood logs have burned down, pellet operation can automatically take over if required. In this way, the heating system combines heat from wood logs with the convenience of automated pellet operation and provides a reliable heat supply for the building.
