The task
The requirements:
- Hybrid system with solar roof extraction
- Sustainability: use of regional wood chips
- Efficient heat generation and distribution
Our solution
Hybrid crop drying with solar roof extraction and Hargassner Eco-HK 150 wood chip boiler – efficient, weather-independent drying on the Dachs farm.
- 1 x Eco-HK 150 kW wood chip boiler
- 1 x WLM 120 warm air module
- 1 x 5,000 litre accumulator tank
In Treubach, Upper Austria, the Dachs family’s farm impressively demonstrates how modern energy technology and sustainability go hand in hand: A hybrid drying solution is used for efficient bulk material and crop drying – consisting of a solar roof extraction system and a powerful Hargassner biomass heating boiler.
Highest efficiency at the Dachs plant
The system combines SONA Colar roof panels for solar air extraction with a Hargassner Eco-HK wood chip boiler with 150 kW and a hot air module (WLM) 120. This combination creates the ideal conditions for energy-efficient, uniform crop drying, regardless of the weather or time of day.
Thanks to the 5,000 litre layered accumulator, the heating system generated by the wood chip boiler is efficiently stored and transferred to the hot air module as required. Outside air is drawn in there, heated with the heat from the biomass via a heat exchanger and finally blown into the flat grate dryer.
Sustainability that pays off
Wood chip boiler & roof extraction system
Energy-efficient technology is becoming increasingly important, especially in agriculture. With the Hargassner wood chip system and the solar roof extraction system, the Dachs family has created a sustainable solution for their farm that is both ecologically sound, economically viable and technically sophisticated. The combination of these two systems enables year-round crop drying, even in foggy conditions or with little sunlight – and with a high level of energy efficiency.
