Olympic champion relies on Hargassner wood chip boiler
In this video, successful luger Armin Zöggeler talks about his decision to install a Hargassner Eco-HK wood chip boiler with 30 kW, which heats his home as well as four holiday flats and a horse breeding farm. The project was realised by our regional Hargassner partner – the company Widmann from South Tyrol.
Former professional luge athlete and two-time overall Olympic champion Armin Zöggeler has opted for a sustainable and efficient heating solution with Hargassner. Even as a child, his parents’ farm was heated with wood, as their own forest provided a natural and economical source of heat. That’s why the final choice for the new purchase was wood chips – the most efficient and cost-effective solution for utilising wood from their own forest. The Hargassner Eco-HK 30 kW wood chip boiler now provides a cosy heating system for around 400 m² and heats four holiday flats and a horse breeding farm in addition to his private home. The heating system is equipped with a large hygienic buffer cylinder of 1,500 litres, which ensures sufficient heat and hot water for the buildings at all times.
A customised special solution enables convenient filling of the storage tank via an accessible floor cover. It was particularly important to Armin that there was sufficient storage space to reliably supply the heating system with fuel without having to constantly top up. The spacious storage room with a capacity of 50 m³ offers precisely this convenience. With a four metre extraction system, the wood chip system is automatically and continuously supplied with fuel – without any manual intervention. Everything runs completely independently and reliably, even when Armin is away for long periods of time due to his many trips with the Italian tobogganing team. Thanks to remote control via the app, he is always in control should he need to check. The installation was realised by the experienced Hargassner partner Widmann, our regional representative in South Tyrol. Thanks to the close cooperation with this regional partner, the entire project ran smoothly and without complications.
