Biomass instead of liquid gas
Hargassner heating module with Eco-HK
Albert Knoblinger GmbH & Co. KG, a leading specialist in bulk materials handling and conveying technology based in Ried im Innkreis, has successfully made the switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy. The company now operates its entire production and office area of 6,000 m² with a state-of-the-art wood chip boiler from Hargassner – specifically: with a heating module in double-decker design and two Eco-HK 250 boilers in cascade.
Sustainable heating with pellets and wood chips
Previously, production was heated exclusively during the day with liquid gas, which was both inefficient and expensive. The growing energy requirements due to a new production hall and the rising prices for fossil fuels made a rethink necessary. The choice fell on a powerful biomass heating system that can be operated not only with wood chips, but also with pellets. The installed BC 900 heating module in a space-saving double-decker design accommodates two Eco-HK 250 boilers (total output 500 kW) in the lower section. The fuel is stored in the upper module – it is fed automatically and efficiently. This well thought-out concept saves valuable production space and maximises energy efficiency.
The heating containers were installed outside and seamlessly connected to the existing system. The existing radiant ceiling heaters were replaced by modern panel collectors. Ongoing production operations were not disrupted by the conversion. With a footprint of just 30 m², the heating module is a prime example of efficient heating solutions in the industrial sector.
Significant cost reduction through biomass
Switching to heating with pellets and wood chips not only gives Knoblinger independence from volatile energy prices, but also tangible economic benefits: The ongoing operating costs have been reduced by around 30 %, while at the same time increasing the security of supply.
Efficient and sustainable heating solutions for trade and industry
The demands placed on modern heating systems in the commercial sector are high: they must be powerful, economical and environmentally friendly. Hargassner offers customised biomass heating systems for precisely this purpose – ideal for hotels, farms, production facilities, public institutions and many other areas of application.
