The task
The requirements:
- Fail-safe heat supply of the industrial area
- Economy and long-term cost savings
- Environmentally friendly alternative to old oil heating
- Utilisation of your own wood
Our solution
Metal company Welser Profile replaces oil heating with 2 Magno-SR 800 for 30,000 m² and thus saves 50 % of the previous heating costs:
- 2 x Magno-SR 800 kW industrial heating system in cascade
- 2 x layered accumulator of 30 m³ each
- Underground wood chip bunker with moving floor system
- Automatic fuel supply via augers
The internationally active metalworking company Welser Profile, based in Ybbsitz, has invested in modern biomass technology from Hargassner as part of a comprehensive heating technology changeover. The objective: to move away from fossil fuels and towards an economically and ecologically sustainable heat supply.
At the heart of the new plant are two Magno-SR 800 biomass boilers with a total output of 1.6 megawatts. The boilers were installed in cascade connection in a newly built boiler house – a solution that enables both reliability and demand-orientated operation. The 20 x 20 metre boiler house is a particular highlight: A spacious wood chip bunker is located directly underneath, which efficiently feeds the system via a moving floor system. Special screw conveyor technology transports the material directly to the boilers. A modern filter system and two accumulator tanks of 30 cubic metres each also ensure maximum efficiency.

Ecological & economical
By switching to biomass, Welser has significantly reduced its CO₂ emissions and halved its running costs compared to the previous oil heating system. In addition to the ecological benefits, regional added value was also a key motivation: the wood chips are largely sourced locally, which provides local farmers with additional income.
