Tourism is a major industry in Austria, but tourism businesses must also keep a close eye on their operating costs in order to ensure the necessary profitability. This applies not only to procurement in the hospitality sector, but above all to the costs of building maintenance and heat generation.
Hochfügen has therefore recently acquired its own heating system, which supplies hotels, restaurants, private and public buildings with both heat and hot water. Around 750 tonnes of biomass per year are used to generate just under 3 gigawatt-hours – these are the impressive figures from the energy company that has set up this project for Hochfügen. To ensure this output can be maintained, two Magno-SR 800 units were installed, each with an output of 800 kW. Due to the extensive heating network, an accumulator tank with a capacity of 60,000 litres ensures a constant supply.

Why choose large-scale technology from Hargassner
There are actually three key points at play here: the flexibility of Magno technology in terms of fuel – the quality does not always have to be consistent, particularly with regard to moisture content. Another crucial factor is Hargassner’s expertise and experience with large-scale plants of this kind. Added to this are the necessary facilities, such as central ash conveyor system and the smart heating control system for the boilers, which ensures that operation does not require intensive supervision.

Hargassner industrial heating systems for high-performance operation
The Magno-SR is specifically designed for continuous operation under high loads and covers a power range of up to 2,500 kW. What sets it apart is that, thanks to a special multi-stage grate combustion system, biomass fuels can be reliably and efficiently pre-dried and burnt even when they have a high residual moisture content of up to 60 per cent. The automatic de-ash system significantly reduces maintenance requirements and contributes to cost-effective operation.
