Our solution
A modern wood chip boiler from Hargassner for fruit and wine growing, as well as for the tourist accommodation at the Engadiner Hof.

Paul Zelger’s Engadiner Hof is situated in Montan on the western side of the South Tyrolean Unterland. The family-run business combines fruit growing and viticulture with tourism services as part of its ‘farm holiday’ programme. The farm has been using a wood chip boiler since 2000. After around 25 years, the existing system was replaced by a new HARGASSNER Eco-HK 30 kW and adapted to the farm’s current requirements.
Tried-and-tested heating for family-run businesses
For Paul Zelger, the decision to use wood chips was, many years ago, about more than just heating. At the Engadiner Hof, the ongoing maintenance of the orchards and vineyards, as well as the renewal of facilities, regularly produces wood that can be used directly for heat generation.
“It has always been important to me to make sensible use of resources from our own farm and to remain as independent as possible,” explains Paul Zölder.
With the modernisation of its heating system in 2025, the family-run business is consistently continuing along this path. The new HARGASSNER Eco-HK 30 kW will take over the heat supply for the living areas and guest accommodation, ensuring that heating energy is provided in line with demand.
Heating systems for agriculture and hospitality businesses
In addition to the Eco-HK 30 kW, the overall system also comprises the ECO-RA 400 extraction system, an HSP 1500 SW2 accumulator tank and the control accessories for four heat circuits with RSC remote controls. In addition, a solar thermal system has been integrated into the heating system.
The automatic fuel feeding system and central control system ensure convenient operation and clear management of the various heat consumers. This has enabled the existing heating system to be modernised and optimally tailored to the differing requirements of the farm, the residential property and the holiday accommodation.
